AZ Icon Editor is a program with the function of working as an advanced icon tool. It is considered to be one of the best editors on the market due to its richness of features. The program is destined to be used to create and edit any kind of icons, no matter their color depth or their size. It works by lining up the icons, creating different effects and saving to single or multi-icon files.
The icons can be extracted from dll files or similar resources, including the mentioned program. Az Icon Editor can also be used to convert jpg, bmp, png, tigg etc. images to icons, adding any kind of feature to them (as texts) or creating animated cursor files. The process reveals specific alpha values of individual pixels of Windows XP and Vista icons, which can be converted for use in any system (Windows Vista or Xp and non-Vista/Xp systems).
The icon editor makes possible the conversion between the major file formats (BMP, PNG, TIFF, TGA, JPG and GIF), while preserving the original alpha channel. Among its features, we can mention the icon and cursor drawing facilities and a variety of image manipulation functions, which provide a large range of possibilities when creating a new icon.
